Sustainable Weddings Are More Then Trending!
Sustainability isn't just a trend anymore - it's a responsibility.
As couples become more conscious of the environmental impact of their wedding choices, the floral industry is evolving.
At The Blume Edit Faux Floral Design + Styling, we've always believed in intentional design, but now we're expanding that intention into something bigger; a commitment to becoming a more sustainable business over the next 12 months.
We have already started our journey with our luxury faux florals.
Why Faux Florals Are a Sustainable Choice?
Fresh flowers are beautiful, but they come with a hidden environment cost:
- High water usage
- Chemicals pesticides and preservatives
- Air-freighted transport
- Single use waste after events
- Short lifespan, especially in WA's heat
Faux florals, when chosen intentionally and used responsibly, offer a sustainable alternative that still delivers beauty, romance, and an editorial impact.
Why Choose Faux?
They're Reusable Again + Again
Unlike fresh florals, they don't wilt, bruise, or die. Every stem can be:
- reused for future weddings
- repurposed for installations
- restyled for future events
One stem can serve dozens of weddings.
They Reduce Transport Emissions
Fresh flowers often travel thousands of kilometers before reaching a florist. Faux florals:
- are shipped once
- stored locally
- reused repeatedly
This reduces the carbon footprint associated with constant importing. .
They Perfect for WA's Heat.
Western Australian is hot, windy, and unpredictable. Fresh florals struggle outdoors and in the sun.
Faux florals:
- withstand the heat
- don't wilt
- don't brown
- stay perfect all day
This means fewer replacements, fewer emergency stems and fewer resources used.
They Eliminate Floral Waste
A typical wedding can generate bags worth of floral waste - stems, leaves, foam, packaging, and wilted blooms.
With faux florals:
- nothing goes to landfill
- nothing needs composting
- nothing is thrown away the next day
Your florals live on.
They Support Sustainable Design Practices
Faux florals allow us to:
- avoid florals foam
- reduce water usage
- minimize chemical exposure
- use long-lasting mechanics
- build installations that can be reused for future clients
It's sustainability build into the design process.
